Poem for Dad Our dearest Daddy you tried your best, To cope without Mum it was such a test. You were so very lost and so were we, We couldn’t compete not even us three.   Mum was your life our family’s strength, When she was gone it was such a wrench. She was your rock and held you tall, So very far was your mighty fall.   Your visits from Derek made your days, He’s been so loyal in so many ways. Monday and Thursday he was always there, A coffee with banter as he pulled up a chair.   We all learned lessons from you this year, The love you’ve shown and your strength from your fear. We upheld your dignity and did our best, And now you’re at peace as we lay you to rest.   Mum will be waiting to welcome you in, I’m sure she will even pour you a gin. It’s made us all stronger this journey we’ve had, But also been fun so it’s not all sad.   So bye for now Daddy as you go for your doze, And join your beloved Patricia Rose. We know you’ll be happy to be back with your wife, We all ‘thank you’ our Daddy for a wonderful life.   Written by Suzie Xx
